Job summary

Blueprint Automation in Longmont, CO is seeking an Assembly Manager to lead a 15-20 person team across design, assembly, and testing. You will oversee scheduling, QA, and project coordination for complex automation equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations.

The role requires a strong background in production management, CAD tools (Solidworks/AutoCAD), and ERP/ADP usage to track hours, BOMs and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in management in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team, managers and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with CAD 2D & 3D software preferred.
  • Familiarization with Lean practices and DMAIC is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a safe working environment within BPA standards.
  • Manage and support the Assembly Team and Project Team from design review to final assembly and testing through decommissioning and shipment of the equipment.
  • Set and maintain the assembly schedule including assigning leads and backups to all projects.
  • Develop and lead project teams to support quality, safety and productivity goals.
  • Develop and Train assembly staff on Best Practices and Standard Operating Procedures to efficiently and accurately build complex automation equipment.
  • Educate staff about the organization's rules and regulations and enforce them regularly.
  • Develop operational procedures for the assembly department to achieve quality and performance while delivering the core objectives for each project.
  • Assist Shipping and Receiving to control purchased and fabricated materials issued to projects.
  • Represent BPA and the Assembly Team during Factory Acceptance Tests with customers and clients.
  • Plan and manage assembly team shifts and coordinate overtime to meet project demands.
  • Motivate staff to meet goals and targets.
  • Utilize ERP, Excel and ADP to validate hours and report to VP of Operations.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks, AutoCAD and E-Drawings to assist assembly team.

Position:
The Assembly Manager ensures effective and efficient operations through regular monitoring of departmental policies, procedures, staff, and standards, and is responsible for organizing and managing manpower to ensure the achievement of both quality and efficiency goals. Provides leadership in the direction of all activities consistent with BPA strategies, objectives, and policies.

The position functions semi-autonomously and directly supervises 15-20 employees. The Assembly Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Assist Shipping and Receiving to control purchased and fabricated materials that have been issued to projects.
  • Represent BPA and the Assembly Team during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT’s) with customers and clients.
  • Utilize the requisition process to order and maintain assembly supplies including tools, raw materials, Kanban, VMI and consumables.
  • Plan and manage assembly team shifts as well as request approval and coordinate overtime and exceptions as needed to meet project demands.
  • Motivate staff in achieving goals and targets.
  • Utilize the ERP system, Excel and ADP to validate assembly team hours and report those hours to the VP of Operations on a weekly basis.
  • Utilize the ERP system, Excel and PDM to pull missing parts lists, open operations reports, and Bill of Materials (BOM) tools to quickly direct the Assembly team on projects.
  • Motivate the team to meet their weekly objectives and fanatically remove roadblocks.
  • Support service department by providing resources for assembly or support when required and rescheduling assembly staff members accordingly.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks, AutoCAD, and E-Drawings CAD software packages to assist and guide the assembly team in building.
  • Effectively communicate and interface with all departments using email, teams or other methods.
  • Attend management meetings, provide team feedback and support a positive team culture across multiple departments.
  • Maintain an assembly floor that is organized, clean, and safe for all employees.
  • Perform performance reviews for all Assembly team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in management in a production manufacturing environment. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, Mechanical blueprints and Electrical schematics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers, and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - specifically Excel is required.
  • Experience with CAD, 2D & 3D, software is preferred.
  • Familiarization with Lean practices and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) is preferred.
  • Planning and organization skills to be able to run and monitor the production process.
  • Ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to lead and develop teams to the highest potential level while managing diverse work groups in a team environment.
