Job summary

Quikserv, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking an Assembly Line Technician to install, relocate, and modify assembly lines, workstations, and production fixtures as part of continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with maintenance and operations to upgrade lines for safety and productivity.

You must read tape measures, use hand/power tools, and assist with layout changes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds and operate forklifts when authorized; committed to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read tape measures and basic shop drawings.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installing, relocating, and modifying assembly lines and production workstations.
  • Assemble and install worktables, lift tables, shelving, racking, and production fixtures.
  • Support upgrades to improve safety, quality, productivity, and ergonomics.
  • Arrange material staging areas and finished goods staging.
  • Apply floor markings, labels, signage, and visual management throughout the facility.
  • Assist with layout changes to improve material flow and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Technician for electrical, compressed air, and utility connections.
  • Move and install equipment using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment as allowed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment following 5S principles.
  • Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ideas to improve efficiency, organization, and safety.

Job description

The Assembly Line Technician supports the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations by installing, modifying, and improving assembly lines, workstations, material staging areas, and production support equipment. This position works closely with the Operations Manager to improve safety, efficiency, ergonomics, and material flow while partnering with the Maintenance Technician on projects requiring electrical, pneumatic, or facility utility connections.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation, relocation, and modification of assembly lines and production workstations.

  • Assist with layout changes to improve material flow and production efficiency.
  • Assemble production support equipment and mechanical fixtures.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Technician for electrical, compressed air, and utility connections.
  • Move and install equipment using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
  • Assist with special projects, plant improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend ideas to improve manufacturing efficiency, workplace organization, and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read tape measures and basic shop drawings.
  • Comfortable assembling equipment and following installation instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work throughout an active manufacturing facility.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • Experience installing racking, shelving, workstations, or production equipment.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or visual workplace concepts.
  • Basic fabrication or carpentry skills.
Physical Demands:
  • Must support Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, and walking.
