South Bay Solutions, a high-precision machine shop serving semiconductor and medical device industries, seeks an Assembly Lead to manage daily line operations, ensure product quality, and meet production goals. You will coordinate tasks, train staff, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and a focus on safety and quality, with day shift responsibilities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 3+ years of assembly or manufacturing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily assembly tasks to meet production schedules.
  • Inspect in-process and finished products to ensure spec adherence and initiate corrective actions.
  • Train and coach team members on assembly processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, safety, and product quality and implement changes with supervision.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed; enforce PPE usage and report unsafe conditions.

Position Summary

The Assembly Lead oversees daily assembly line operations, ensuring products are built to quality standards, production goals are met, and team members work efficiently and safely. This role coordinates activities, provides training, troubleshoots production issues, and acts as the primary point of contact between assembly staff and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Coordination
    • Assign daily tasks to assembly team members based on production schedules.
    • Monitor workflow to ensure targets are met on time.
    • Act as a resource for troubleshooting assembly issues.
  • Quality Control
    • Inspect work in progress and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications.
    • Enforce quality standards and initiate corrective actions when needed.
  • Training & Development
    • Train new and existing team members on assembly processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, safety, and product quality.
    • Recommend and implement process changes in coordination with supervisors.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all team members follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE.
    • Report and address any unsafe conditions or incidents.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
    • 3+ years of assembly or manufacturing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong understanding of assembly processes and tools.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
    • Ability to lead by example and motivate a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and small parts.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires adherence to strict safety protocols.
