Assembly Department

Tools & Equipment: Hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, sanders, pipe threaders, and hand tools.

Primary Function: To fit and assemble all components and complete machines.

Working Procedure:

• Receives drawings, instructions, etc., from the foreman.
• Gathers material, equipment, parts, subassemblies, etc., from inventory or storage area and moves to assembly area.
• Plans assembly, fitting, and erection procedures from drawings.
• Checks material, equipment, and parts for defects.
• Assembles into group assemblies purchased materials and parts.
• Assembles large and/or complex assemblies such as gearboxes requiring very close tolerances.
• Assembles complete machines from component parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
• Uses measuring instruments such as dial indicators, scales, calipers, micrometers, squares, gauges, etc.
• Lubricates equipment and maintains machines in a clean area.
