The Role

Under the direction of the Foreman, the Equipment Mechanic is responsible for fitting and assembling component parts into sub-assemblies, deburring, painting, etc.

Requirements

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Result Items

  • Receive drawings and instructions from the foreman or group leader.
  • Gather materials and parts for sub-assemblies, inventory, or storage areas.
  • Use drawings and detailed instructions to determine assembly procedures.
  • Prepare parts and materials for assembly by cleaning, buffing, polishing, etc.
  • Assemble component parts into sub-assemblies.
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, squares, gauges, etc.
  • Handle materials manually.
  • Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Capabilities

  • Wear personal protective equipment most of the time.
  • Work in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally.
  • Respond quickly to sounds.
  • Inspect and measure products and equipment.

Mental Capabilities

  • Understand, remember, and apply instructions and information.
  • Understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively via phone.
  • Complete routine forms and reports, and communicate technical information orally.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations accurately.
