Job summary

TransPak in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking an Assembler – Wood to build wood crates to exact customer specifications. You will read blueprints, select materials, and safely operate power tools to produce high-quality crates on schedule.

We value teamwork and reliability; the role requires 3 months of carpentry experience, use of power tools, basic computer skills for Ops Center, and a willingness to pass drug and background checks. Forklift experience is a plus and bilingual ability is helpful.

Qualifications

• 3 months of experience in carpentry, construction and/or landscaping.
• Use of dimensional and electrical power tools and motorized equipment.
• Basic computer skills to use Ops Center to log in & out of jobs with employee ID number.
• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check required.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Builds various sized wood crates while safely using power tools.
• Uses nail guns, staple guns, drills, grinders, and hammers.
• Reads and follows cut sheets to meet specifications.
• Logistics: log in/out of jobs and track production schedules in Ops Center.
• Maintain safety and PPE compliance.
• Report equipment defects and maintenance needs.

Your Role

Assembler – Wood

Shift

Monday-Friday: 7:00am-3:30pm or Monday-Friday: 1pm-9:30pm

Using your strong teamwork skills, you will safely and efficiently build wood crates using blueprints (cut sheets) and power tools to meet customer specifications for quality and on-time delivery. You will log in and out of jobs in the Ops Center (Production software planning system) to track jobs and follow production schedules. You’ll also follow safety and personal protective equipment requirements

What You’ll Be Doing

• Builds various sized wood crates while safely using power tools~
• i.e., nail and staple guns, power drills, grinders, and hammers
• Use tape measure to ensure the measurements match the cut sheet up to 1/8th inch
• Safe ladder use required when assembling the tops (caps) of crates
• May need to assemble bases or skids for crates on the ground. This requires use of a 20 pound, 3.5-inch nail gun while crouching and/or kneeling
• Able to read, interpret, find, and document possible cut sheet and/or stenciling errors
• Use of adhesives to apply foam to wood crates and conduct specification checks
• Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures
• Use of equipment and when to speak to your supervisor
• Follow all procedures, policies and understand equipment use, before use
• To ensure safety, report equipment defects and/or maintenance needs to your supervisor
• To help protect yourself and others, please report any unsafe acts to your supervisor
