Job summary

Oil States Industries, Inc. is seeking an Assembler Test Tech III in Arlington, TX to safely assemble large steel components, participate in testing, and support manufacturing processes.

The role requires lifting heavy parts, operating hydraulic tools, and coordinating with multiple teams onshore and offshore. Responsibilities include leading assembly activities in the absence of the lead, ensuring on-time shipping, and maintaining a safe, organized work area while complying with site

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years in the assembly of heavy equipment in a heavy equipment manufacturing or oilfield services context.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with hand tools, hydraulic torque wrenches and hydraulic tensioning devices.
  • Strong safety record and familiarity with safety practices.
  • Basic math and unit conversions.
  • Experience in production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures and drawings.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe, efficient, handling, installation and assembly of large, heavy steel components in support of the manufacturing process and testing functions as well as scheduling duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely, responsibly and efficiently lifts handles and assembles large parts, tools and equipment.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including common manual/pneumatic hand tools, hydraulic torque wrenches, hydraulic tensioning devices, hydraulic presses, steam systems, overhead cranes, and forklift.
  • Ensure products are shipped on time.
  • Ensure safe working environment and clean work area.
  • Prepare a list of materials needed and provide to supervisor.
  • Assist with mechanical test programs and manufacturing procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with various individuals and/or organizations as required to fulfill an assigned task.
  • Travel to and perform field operations at either onshore or offshore facilities, commensurate with experience, including appropriate training to meet site requirements.
  • Installation of various test devices, including strain gauges.
  • Assume leadership of assembly crew in the absence of the Lead.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A heavy equipment manufacturing and/or oilfield services background with at least 4 years of experience in the assembly of heavy equipment.
  • Read, understand and follow written procedures and mechanical drawings.
  • First hand knowledge and experience with both common hand tools, heavy lift equipment, hydraulic torque wrenches and hydraulic tensioning devices.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical devices, manufacturing processes and their operation.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of good safety practices and an excellent safety record.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of weights and measures conversions.
  • Experience in production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the capacity to work constructively with others.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures and mechanical drawings.

TRAVEL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work without supervision for extended periods of time.
  • Travel is required, including offshore and international.
  • May require extended travel periods of up to 30 days.
  • May required travel on short notice and for unspecified durations.
  • Make own travel arrangements, balancing cost with schedule requirements and budget constraints. Mode of travel may include automobile, airplane, boat, or helicopter.
  • Work in elevated work areas and confined spaces with proper PPE.
  • Perform work assignments in hazardous environments, including offshore installations.
  • Work outside, in extreme weather conditions (cold, heat, humidity, wind).
  • Must obtain and maintain the following certifications:
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET).
  • Offshore Water Survival Training.
  • Safe Gulf Orientation.
  • Other certifications or training as required by Customer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work physically demanding 8 to 12 hour shifts.
  • Capable of considerable bending, standing and lifting for extended periods.
  • Capable of working outside in all weather conditions.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and 75-100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
