Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM, plus facilitation of shift-passdown

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Description:

Under direction of the Production Supervisor, responsible for ensuring production teams assemble and/or package products according to customer specifications and established policies, procedures, practices, and standards. Provides work direction, monitors associate performance, and provides input for associate evaluations.

Lead daily Tier 1 meetings; communicate issues to associates, and elevate issues to supervisors. Performs detailed assembly and/or packaging operations as needed, per approved documentation and training. Ensures paperwork complies with documentation requirements. Maintains high quality and throughput levels that support medical device finished goods manufacturing

Position Authority:

This position has the authority to stop production at his/her work station if there is a question or concern about the acceptability of materials, assemblies, or processes that affect the quality or safety of Viant products. Freedom to act, under close supervision, in semi-structured assignments that normally require adherence to defined procedures and/or specific, detailed instructions with limited originality. Solves problems of limited scope and complexity.

Essential Job Functions:

Safety
  • Models and helps to enforce established safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Documents any safety/injury incidents and communicates to the Facilities / Equipment and Safety Supervisor
  • Helps cultivate safety mindsets within production teams, consistently bringing safety observations and recommendations for improvements
  • Performs equipment setups and minor equipment troubleshooting. Escalates issues as needed (i.e. to Maintenance, supervisor, etc.)
  • Maintains 6S on assigned line and notifies supervisor of any deficiencies
Quality
  • Follows all standard work, quality system procedures, and ISO regulatory requirements as defined by Viant's Quality System, policies, practices, and procedures
  • Directs and verifies that team members are following standard work, Quality System procedures, and regulatory requirements. Monitor production methods to verify accuracy and quality according to established policies and practices.
  • Applies acquired knowledge of company’s quality system to complete and review required documentation. Inspects product and paperwork for compliance to production and quality standards
  • When a quality concern is raised, investigates and initiates documentation as necessary. Takes appropriate action with associates and any affected product, consulting with supervisor as appropriate.
  • Performs daily cleaning of workstation and work areas per quality systems requirements
  • Reads, understands, leads and directs associates to complete disposition activities of discrepant product, per written instructions, consulting with supervisor as needed.

  • Maintains high standards in quality, throughput, and attendance
  • Achieves acceptable level of proficiency on trained operations
  • Identifies areas for process improvement, and makes recommendations to supervisors
  • Leads, supports, and coordinates with other Team Leads to ensure that all production areas are performing according to their daily/weekly goals
  • Communicates important information to next shift
  • Responsible for communicating to Production Supervisor any production concerns and feedback on performance of assigned team members
  • Assists in training assigned team members in methods, procedures, and techniques according to established policies, procedures, and products.
  • Responsible to help drive, initiate, and implement lean principles in production areas
People
  • Sets a good example, and leads team members in a positive manner
  • Listens to and encourages others' opinions and input. Validates other people's contributions and feedback.
  • Monitors associate behavior. Collaborates with supervisor as needed to resolve associate performance issues
  • Communicates issues, changes, and updates to team members and ensures understanding
  • Supports New Hires onboarding process
  • May attend and/or present data at company meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge and Education:

High school education or equivalent. Working knowledge of quality system requirements.

Job Experience

Must have completed training for assigned work area. A minimum of 3 months experience is required; 1 year of experience is preferred. Previous experience in a regulated environment highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous, day-to-day activities of a primarily productive nature.
  • Moderate lifting (20 lbs.), carrying (10 lbs.), bending, and prolonged sitting. Requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items; work with fingers, hands, and arms; and perceive attributes of objects and material
  • Intensive, repetitive handwork for prolonged periods
  • Requires good eyesight with or without corrective lenses and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Well-lighted, air-conditioned, indoor laboratory/production setting with adequate ventilation
