Job summary

Viant Medical in New Hampshire is seeking a Production Manager to lead direct and indirect labor across multiple departments. You will own S,Q,D,I,P metrics, drive lean initiatives, and ensure schedules meet customer requirements in a cost-efficient way.

Responsibilities include guiding 40+ associates, coordinating with Planning, Engineering, Quality and Maintenance, and mentoring staff while maintaining a safe, compliant manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years in supervisory or lead manufacturing roles.
  • Associates or Bachelor's in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; team-based collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to safety and quality requirements and leads production schedules.
  • Directs labor in manufacturing processes to meet schedules and cost goals.
  • Monitors production lines against master schedule and material planning.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Mentors 40+ associates; hires, coaches, and performs reviews.
  • Ensures work orders are closed in Oracle and data accuracy.
  • Communicates with Plant management on production and safety.
  • Backups to Operations Manager when needed.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The primary purpose of this job is to lead direct and indirect labor employees involved in the manufacturing of a process area. Manage assigned company resources (personnel, equipment and materials) while collaborating with Planning, Engineering, Quality and Maintenance personnel to achieve work schedules and satisfy customer requirements in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The Production Manager has complete ownership of S,Q,D,I,P metrics across multiple departments and shifts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adheres to Viant’s Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements.
  • Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules that meet or exceed Company and Customer expectations.
  • Monitors the alignment of product or line(s) with master production schedule and material planning to meet production goals.
  • Participate in customer facing activities including the SIOP and MOR.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement activities including Kaizen events
  • Monitors departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports.
  • Ensures work orders are closed in Oracle and data is accurate.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Associates (40+) in a manner that fosters a safe work environment and self-directed team approach.
  • Provides continuous communication to Plant management on production, facility and Associate accomplishments and/or concerns.
  • Identifies, arranges and/or provides training to ensure a safe, efficient, quality work environment with focus on continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Facilitates communication, coordination and conflict resolution within and among work groups.
  • Provides leadership to Associates in all areas including: hiring, performance management, reviews, coaching, counseling and corrective actions.
  • Assists in the analysis of production and related processes and makes recommendations on improvements and organization of process improvement activity through the application of Six-Sigma & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of diversity, open communication and trust, affording opportunities for training and growth.
  • Remains flexible to the needs of the business and performs other functions as required.
  • Backup to the Operations Manager when needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge/Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates, Bachelor Degree in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred
  • Demonstrated product and assembly or machine shop experience and knowledge; minimum of 5+ years in a supervisory or lead role capacity
  • Demonstrated effective communication and leadership skills; strong ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-based environment and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to deliver required business results
Job Experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in relevant manufacturing preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination
  • Extended periods of bending, lifting, sitting and standing
  • Significant use of hands
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including:
    • Protective eyewear
    • Protective gowning (i.e: Hairnet, Safety Shoes covers, Gown/Apron, Safety Glasses, gloves)
