Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking an Assembler - Valves to work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment. The role involves assembling subassemblies and finished products, inspecting components, and operating precision equipment including microscopes.

  • Accuracy in color, depth and near vision with steady hands for precise assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble subassemblies or completed assemblies as assigned.
  • Prepare, inspect and test components and finished assemblies.
  • Operate equipment such as Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder and microscopes.
  • Follow safety procedures and participate in process improvements.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Assembler - Valves (5:30am - 2:00pm) works under close supervision performing assigned assembly processes tomanufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, Foodand Drug Administration standards, and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/orwritten instructions.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform assigned assembly taskssubassemblies, or completed assemblies
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components,
  • Test finished assemblies
  • Operate assigned equipment and machinery (i.e.-Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder, X-Raymachines
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in process
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings forimprovement
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy;
  • Cross-train to work on at least one process within the cell
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, Standard Work, and otherinitiatives as they arise
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
  • Operation of a Microscope (Can be up to 8 hours a day)
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
  • May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1-5+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturingenvironment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, andother techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods knowledge
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; Proficiency in reading comprehension(understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents)of the Englishlanguage; Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
  • Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other visioncapabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness
  • Ability to thoroughly interpret production orengineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrationsand wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in ahigh-volume setting
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • IPC Soldering Certification
Eligibility Requirement:

This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered.As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions could include a Class 7 or 8 Cleanroom, or general manufacturingenvironment
  • Up to 8 hours of Microscope work daily
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limitedto: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any otherrequired PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures,confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 25% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: use of soldering equipment, microscopes/magnifying glasses
  • Workspace: assembly cell

Hourly range: $23.83/hr. - $30.56/hr.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
