Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Lynnwood, WA is seeking an Electronics Assembler II (Contract-to-Hire). The role involves assembling components to military and other standards with minimal supervision, including visual and dimensional inspection and maintaining quality documentation.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and related techniques
• Strong verbal and written communication; good reading comprehension; basic computer skills
• Vision: accurate color, near and depth perception; dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to interpret production or engineering prints and assembly drawings
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Fine soldering certificate or equivalent
• Eligibility: US Persons for ITAR-controlled access

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned assembly tasks
• Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies
• Demonstrate proficiency in operations within 2-4 area processes
• Ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately
• Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery
• Observe health and safety procedures handling hazardous chemicals
• Identify and report difficulties affecting quality
• Understand daily demand per Master Schedule for the cell
• Create IT, Facilities work orders, NCRs for quality and material issues
• Assist in resolution of Non-Conformance reports
• Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and team meetings for improvement
• Practice safe work habits per OSHA and Crane policy
• Support CBS initiatives including 5S, KPIs, Standard Work, Problem Solving
• Complete job-related training courses
• Overtime if necessary
• Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
• May participate in audits and inventory counts
• May repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

Job Summary

The Assembler position is a professional in the manufacturing environment who applies extensive knowledge and skill in the assembly field, working with little or no supervision to perform assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. In addition, the Assembler communicates with all levels of the Value Stream as well as performs visual and dimensional inspection.

Essential Functions

• Perform assigned assembly tasks
• Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing established operations within 2-4 area processes
• Ability to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately
• Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery
• Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
• Identify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in process
• Understand daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working in
• Create IT, Facilities work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues.
• Assist in resolution of Non-Conformance reports.
• Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
• Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; Proactively identify safety concerns or issues and work with the Engineering group to implement solutions
• Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
• Complete job-related company training courses
• Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
• Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Non-Essential Functions

• Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
• Perform inventory cycle counts
• May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: 2-5 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; Good reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents); Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
• Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; Ability to work well in high paced work environment in a high-volume setting
• Education/Certification Requirement: High School diploma or equivalent; Fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience
• Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications

• IPC Soldering and/or Rework/Repair Certification Experience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration schedule
• Designated Inspection certification
• Ability to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions
