Job summary

Alfa Laval in Richmond, VA seeks an assembler for 2nd shift to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble products using diagrams and blueprints, perform quality checks, document production data, and follow SOPs. Daily tasks include 5S, waste reduction, and KAIZEN improvements while collaborating with teammates to meet production goals. Lift materials as needed.

We offer an hourly wage starting at 20.00 USD with benefits including healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k) and paid time off.

Qualifications

  • Quality control: Inspect work for defects and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Documentation: Complete production forms, reports and record assembly data.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with assemblers and rotate tasks as needed.
  • 5S: Engage in daily and weekly 5S routines to sustain high standards.
  • Cross-training: Seek opportunities across processes to add value.
  • KAIZEN: Identify waste and drive improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Control: Inspect work for defects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
  • Documentation: Complete production forms, reports, and record assembly data.
  • Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager and execute production with SOPs and blueprints as a base.
  • Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
  • Be active and engaged in Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining deviations and proposing solutions.
  • Review & suggest improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Look for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventories) elimination opportunities and drive KAIZEN improvements.
  • Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
  • Cross-training opportunities within different manufacturing processes & better ways to add value.
  • Teamwork: Work with other assemblers, communicate effectively, and rotate tasks if part of a team.
  • Use downtime to learn new processes & run improvements from status board activities.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts.

About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly of our gasket plate heat exchanger you will assemble products or components using tools and instructions (diagrams, blueprints)Key duties include performing quality checks, documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating with teams, often involving repetitive tasks. This is important part of contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. This position is for 2nd shift (2:00PM - 10:30PM).

As a part of the team, you will:
  • Quality Control: Inspect work for defects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
  • Documentation: Complete production forms, reports, and record assembly data.

  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts.
