Job summary

Alfa Laval invites you to join our Richmond, VA team on the 2:00 PM–10:30 PM shift, assembling gasket plate heat exchangers using diagrams and blueprints to ensure quality.

You will perform quality inspections, document production data, participate in daily status meetings, and seek KAIZEN improvements in a safe, clean, collaborative workspace that supports our growth.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect work for defects and ensure quality standards.
• Complete production forms and record assembly data.
• Receive daily work assignments and execute with SOPs and blueprints.
• Report deviations to supervision and document in status boards.
• Participate in daily status boards and propose improvements.
• Review and suggest updates to SOPs to reduce waste.
• Identify KAIZEN opportunities in processes and equipment.
• Work with teammates and rotate tasks as needed.
• Utilize downtime to learn new processes and implement improvements.
• Lift materials and finished products as required.

About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly of our gasket plate heat exchanger you will assemble products or components using tools and instructions (diagrams, blueprints)

Key duties include performing quality checks, documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating with teams, often involving repetitive tasks. This is important part of contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization.

This position is for 2nd shift (2:00PM - 10:30PM).

• Quality Control: Inspect work for defects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
• Documentation: Complete production forms, reports, and record assembly data.
• Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager and execute production with Standard Operating Procedures and blueprints as a base.
• Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
• Be active and engaged into the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining the deviations and propose solutions.
• Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Look into your own areas for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventories etc.) elimination opportunities and drive KAIZEN improvements.
• Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
• Constantly look for the cross‑training opportunities within different manufacturing processes & better ways to add value.
• Teamwork: Work with other assemblers, communicate effectively, and rotate tasks if part of a team.
• Use the downtime efficiently to learn the new processes & run improvements from the status board activities.
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts.

The current hourly rate for this position starts at $20.00 hourly.
