Final Assembler
JOB DIMENSIONS :
Job Summary :
Under general or limited supervision (depending on level of overall experience), assemble and test valve assemblies and components; write test reports; check parts and completed work for conformity with government, export, quality control and other customer specifications; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Reports to :
Final Assembly Lead/Assembly Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities :
- Review work orders and inspect bill of materials, engineering drawings and parts for special instructions;
- Evaluate special instructions from engineering drawings;
- Interface with quality control inspectors;
- Order parts from stock;
- Write stock requisitions and reject slips;
- Test all production valves and components;
- Use power tools and large saws;
- Follow engineering and sales order special instructions;
- Bend tubing as specified and required per valve;
- Read dimensions;
- Read blueprints and schematics; and
- Keep equipment and work area clean and safe;
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations;
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES :
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education :
- Considerable experience in all assembly areas;
- Trained in valve assemblies and production components;
- Some experience in electro-mechanical assembly;
- Trained to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings;
- Trained in all company products and components;
- Trained in bill of materials, stock requisitions and related inter-departmental communications;
- Trained in safety and hazardous materials handling procedures; and
- Trained in safe forklift operations where required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
- Ability to assemble and inspect parts for conformity to quality control standards;
- Ability to write results of government testing procedures in test reports;
- Ability to operate bending tools with efficiency and accuracy;
- Ability to use air guns, air drills, power metal saws, flaring machine, tube cutter, grinders and related power tools and machines;
- Ability to set up and organize work;
- Ability to read and interpret wire lists and electrical schematics;
- Ability to adjust specifications to meet customer demands;
- Ability to identify assembly materials, such as elbows, nipples, and bustlings;
- Ability to differentiate tubing by metal, size, grade, and quantity;
- Ability to analyze testing failures and solve problems;
- Ability to participate in final inspection work;
- Ability to communicate modifications to engineering;
- Ability to test and implement test valve changes and unique customer requirements; and
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and related department representatives.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to bend, reach, stretch, lift, and move materials weighing less than 25 pounds;
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined; and
- Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.
Special Requirements :
- Appropriate company certification in the operation of a forklift if required for the position assignment.
