Job summary

Veeco in New Jersey seeks an Assembly Technician to build and test electromechanical subassemblies for advanced semiconductor equipment. You will read blueprints, assemble parts, and verify unit performance to meet tight specifications.

Overview

As semiconductor devices become more complex, the demand for precision-built and fully validated equipment continues to rise. Veeco’s systems play a critical role in enabling advanced packaging, photonics, and high-performance computing applications, where build quality directly impacts device yield and reliability.

As an Assembler, you will work closely with production and engineering teams to prepare components and build and test electromechanical subassemblies for our state-of-the-art semiconductor equipment. You will perform all functions of the assembly process, from picking and preparing component inventory to assembling, inspecting, and testing precision tooling, fixtures, devices, and other subassemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, process instructions, schematics, mechanical drawings, pictures, and other diagrams to assemble complex assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Inspect, test, and adjust completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.
  • Assemble parts or units, position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly. Connect cables, tubes, and wiring, according to specifications. Disassemble units to replace parts or to crate them for shipping.
  • Solder, wire, and check connections and continuity.
  • Measure parts to determine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and verniers.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Monitor operation including gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure the machines are working properly.

Qualifications

High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years related assembly experience required. Must have experience in the assembly of mechanical mechanisms, wiring, and cable harnesses. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and listening.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Judgment and Decision-Making skills.
  • Ability to use lift, balance, walk, lie on the back, manual dexterity, and lift to 40 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.
  • Knowledge of vacuum system technologies and clean room experience helpful.
  • Must be computer literate in MS Word and Excel.

Salary And Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $45,752—$57,951 , plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
