Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Assembler for the first shift in Oconomowoc, WI. You will perform basic mechanical assembly of wheelchair ramps and stair lifts, reading blueprints and schematics, and using hand and power tools to ensure high-quality results.

You will measure, cut, and assemble components, inspect alignment and function, and maintain a safe, organized work area in a temperature-controlled production facility. This contract-to-hire role offers weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of mechanical assembly experience in light industrial or production settings.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and basic production drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills).
  • Strong measuring skills and attention to detail for precise assembly.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and SOPs.

Job Title: Assembler 1st shift, 20hr
Job Description

This role focuses on the basic mechanical assembly of wheelchair ramps and stair lifts, including the assembly of 8-foot rail sections. You use standard hand and power tools to build high-quality, reliable products that support accessibility and mobility.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble wheelchair ramps and stair lifts according to blueprints, schematics, and written instructions.

  • Build and assemble 8-foot rail sections with consistent quality and accuracy.

  • Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during the assembly process.

  • Interpret and follow production drawings, blueprints, and schematics to complete mechanical assemblies.

  • Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure precise cuts and fits.

  • Inspect assembled components to verify correct alignment, fit, and function before moving to the next stage.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safety standards.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating tools and equipment.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production and quality targets.

  • Identify and report any assembly issues or defects and assist in resolving them promptly.

Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of mechanical assembly experience in a light industrial or production environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and basic production drawings.

  • Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and other basic assembly tools.

  • Proficiency using power tools such as drills and other powered equipment in a safe manner.

  • Strong tape measure skills and ability to take accurate measurements for assembly work.

  • Attention to detail to ensure precise assembly and alignment of components.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of how parts fit and function together.

  • Ability to work on your feet and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

  • Reliability and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in light industrial or production assembly environments.

  • Comfort working with schematic diagrams and technical instructions.

  • Previous experience assembling ramps, lifts, or similar mechanical systems.

  • Willingness to learn new fabrication skills for future growth opportunities.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively on the production floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oconomowoc, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
