Job summary

Altec is seeking an assembler to prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components in our Osceola, Iowa facility. You will read schematics, interpret blueprints and work orders, use basic hand tools, and ensure components are installed and tested to spec.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and willingness to cross-train across production areas. Shift work may be required and safety is a top priority.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
• Basic computer usage knowledge desired.
• Vocational Training in lieu of experience will be considered.
• Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics desired.
• Knowledge in Mechanical, Hydraulics, Electrical, or Manufacturing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret schematics/blueprints and work orders.
• Use basic hand tools and PPE properly.
• Learn and operate all equipment in the cell.
• Perform rework as required and test installed components.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and daily time records.
• May cross-train to other areas to support production.

Job Description

Purpose of Position

To prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components to required specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and/or Finish departments.

Major Responsibilities

• Use and conduct proper care of PPE
• Read and interpret schematics (blueprints)
• Read and interpret work orders
• Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment
• Learn and operator all equipment within the work area (cell)
• Perform rework as required
• Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events
• Willing to move to other work areas in order to support production needs. (Cross-train)
• Install unit vehicle and/or chipper components and accessories
• Testing of installed components
• Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
• Maintain daily time records
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• High School Diploma/GED required.
