Job summary

Job description

SUMMARYResponsible for assembling various components and parts to create finished products. This position involves working from technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to assemble aircraft and aerospace components, ensuring quality standards are met. Collaborates with engineering teams, uses hand tools and specialized equipment, and follows stringent safety guidelines to produce high-quality products.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssembles parts and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.Ensure parts are precisely aligned, fitted, and secured using rivets, bolts, adhesives, or other fastening methods.Conduct thorough inspections of components and assemblies for quality assurance, checking for defects, compliance with standards, and functionality.Utilize a variety of tools, such as drills, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and specialized assembly equipment, to carry out tasks.Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and instructions to accurately perform assembly tasks.Select and transport materials and parts using hoists, cranes, or hand trucks, following all safety guidelines.Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspection logs, production reports, and any adjustments made to assembly processes.Maintains a clean, organized, and safe workspace and follows all industry and company safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to cleanroom procedures where applicable.KNOWLEDGEFamiliarity with industry standards such as AS9100 and FAA regulationsAbility to interpret engineering drawings, technical blueprints, and diagrams.Ability to troubleshoot assembly issues and identify potential defects or improvements in the process.Strong understanding of mechanical systems and ability to work with various tools and machinery.COMPETENCIESMechanical aptitude.Detail oriented; attention to accuracy and qualityAbility to work within a team and collaborate with cross functional teams.Problem-solving skills: ability to identify and troubleshoot issues and potential defects.Verbal and written communication skills.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or GED required.Vocational training or certification in aerospace technology, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.1-3 years of experience in aerospace assembly, manufacturing, or a related technical field required.WORKING CONDITIONSAssemblers typically work in manufacturing plants, hangars, or specialized cleanrooms. The environment may include exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, fumes, and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals or materials, depending on the project. Assemblers must wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and occasionally full-body suits.The position requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs. for extended periods. Assemblers may also work in awkward positions to reach components during the assembly process.Safety Hazards: There are inherent risks in working with heavy machinery, sharp tools, and potentially hazardous materials. Strict adherence to safety protocols is required at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.Shift and Hours: This role may require working on a rotating shift basis, including nights, weekends, and overtime, depending on production schedules.
