Job summary

AMETEK STC in California is seeking an experienced assembler for mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-assembly work. You will follow verbal directions or procedures to assemble and fit parts, often under a microscope, and perform oil fills and tests on final units.

Strong hand–eye coordination and soldering skills are preferred. Responsibilities include training peers, operating ultrasonic welders, and maintaining a safe, organized work area in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs assembly operations such as wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying.
• Assembles under a microscope.
• Hand-solders pins, cables, components, and sub-assemblies.
• Operates ultrasonic welding equipment.
• Attaches ICs, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to PCB boards.
• Performs oil fill operations and tests final units.
• Runs life testing programs on a computer.
• May train coworkers when needed.
• May rotate to other workstations.
• Maintains clean, safe work area and follows safety regulations.

Job Description:

SUMMARY
Performs simple repetitive mechanical or electro-mechanical sub-assembly work. Direction provided by verbal instructions or established assembly procedures. Requires simple adjusting and fitting of pre-finished parts. Tolerances are usually liberal. Uses simple hand tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: include the following:

• Performs assembly operations either by wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying.
• Performs assembly under a microscope.
• Hand solders pins, cables, components, sub-assemblies, and completed units.
• Operates ultrasonic welding apparatus.
• Attaches various I.C.s, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to P.C. boards.
• Performs oil fill operations.
• Conducts tests for some final units.
• Performs life testing programs utilizing a computer.
• Provides training or instruction to co-workers and other employees when needed.
• May operate turning-center-assisted tig welding to specific programs established by Manufacturing Engineering.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
• May rotate to other workstations in the unit.
• Meets or exceeds department’s targets set by supervisor / managers
• Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
