AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an assembler in Indiana (Pierceton) to build and repair jigs, fixtures, and tools according to prints and instructions. You will read blueprints, operate multiple manual machines, and perform inspections throughout the process.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year experience with manual tool room equipment, with a strong focus on precision, safety, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or instructions.
  • Operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, drill press, polishing wheel and other equipment.
  • Assemble customer product according to print and instruction and inspect during processing.
  • Fit and assemble jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Maintain a clean work area and follow safety procedures.
  • Occasional duties: assist Production Manager or Engineering as needed.

Job description

Summary Of Position
  • Responsible for assembling customer product according to specific instruction. To build or repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, and tools.
Essential Functions
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions of the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Operate manual mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, drill press, polishing wheel, thermal press and other equipment, as necessary.
  • Assemble customer product according to print & instruction and perform required inspection before, during and after machining.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Performs visual inspections for burrs.
  • Perform deburring operation of parts, as required.
  • Assist in the development of assembly work instruction processes.
  • Organization and maintenance of all assembly fixtures.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
  • Complete required preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Be able to meet the visual acuity requirements (shades of color and color blindness).
  • Be able to meet the requirements of the vision screening test.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES: as directed by supervisor/manager
  • Will assist Production Manager or Engineering in other functions, as required.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.
Experience/Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience with manual tool room equipment is preferred.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required.
