Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in El Cajon, CA is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to fabricate/mechanically assemble parts in a manufacturing setting.

You will read blueprints, use hand tools, and ensure parts meet quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, mechanical assembly experience, and the ability to follow directions; additional technical training is a plus and may require a skills test.

Job description

The Mechanical Assembler will a ssemble or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment per required specifications in a specific area of a manufacturing organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
  • Utilize hand held tools such as a hand-held screw and drill gun
  • Maintain inventory of product in work stations
  • Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify product defects and ensure supervision is notified
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment per instructions
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Qualification requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Mechanical assembly experience
  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problems
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Technical or vocational training or certification a plus; may be required to pass basic skills test

Physical demands and abilities:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately
  • Good vision and ability to focus
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.

Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly
