Assembler I
The Assembler I is responsible for supporting production processes through various activities, including:
- Performing complex mechanical assembly work involving fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances.
Other responsibilities:
- Read and understand prints and verbal or written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Locate all parts and hardware as needed.
- Conduct part inspection before assembly.
- Perform layout work.
- Assemble products, including shimming, grinding, and setting dimensions.
- Assemble larger parts, maintain order, and disassemble for shipping.
- Touch up paint, clean, and prepare items for shipping.
- Document actions of final assemblies by completing production and quality forms.
- Resolve assembly issues by adjusting dimensions to meet specifications and notify supervisors for additional resources.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Use personal protective equipment properly when required.
- Maintain regular attendance and reliable transportation.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Technical or vocational training related to the listed skills is desirable.
- Blueprint reading knowledge.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and transits.
- Some knowledge of welding steel, aluminum, and stainless steel is desirable.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred (training available).
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to pass background check and drug test.
- Team player with a high sense of urgency to meet production goals.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, reach, and twist throughout the shift.
- Attention to detail for material defects and quality issues.
- Repetitive lifting of 25-50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Bright workspace with LED lighting.
- Clean environment with some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes, odors, and vibration.
- Normal noise levels; annual audiometric testing provided.
- Non-climate-controlled facility with fans in summer and heating in winter.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Entry-level experience; training may be provided.
Required Equipment:
- Steel toe shoes/boots.
- Basic tools.
