Job summary

The iLearn Schools in Passaic, NJ seeks a High School Assistant Coach for wrestling to support the Head Coach in instruction, mentoring, and developing student-athletes in grades 9–12. The role covers practice execution, game-day logistics, and compliance with school and NJSIAA rules.

Stipend: $2,750+ (up to $4,000) for the November–February 2027 season. Requirements include CPR/AED and First Aid, NFHS coaching credentials, and DOE certification, plus a background check.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification required; hands-on assessment.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification required before first employment.
• NFHS Concussion in Sports and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses required.
• One-Time NFHS BeNice Program training required.
• NJ Department of Education credential (DOE) is required for public school coaching.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with daily practices, games, and tournaments.
• Comply with all applicable laws, NJ DOE guidelines, NJSIAA regulations, and iLearn policies.
• Ensure only medically cleared athletes participate in practices/games.
• Distribute and track uniforms; ensure they are returned undamaged.
• Support fundraising activities as directed by the Head Coach.
• Maintain safety drills and emergency readiness during activities.
• Travel with the team for away competitions and supervise student-athletes.
• Assist with off-season conditioning and youth outreach events.
• Attend league or conference meetings when required by the Head Coach.
