Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in processing prescriptions, billing, inventory, and customer service. You will work toward national technician certification while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail pharmacy.

Responsibilities include assisting with prescriptions, insurance claims, vaccine administration where permitted, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA. Prior experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working toward licensed technician certification through a certified national program required.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Handle inquiries not requiring pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescriptions and telephoned refill requests at the supervisor's discretion.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers and mail prescriptions.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims; assist with third-party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing; report medication errors as needed.
• Order, check in, stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines where allowed by law with required certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA).
• Adhere to laws and regulations for pharmacy technicians.
• Collaborate with team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects.
