Job summary

Western Security Bank is seeking an entry-level Mortgage Loan Originator Trainee in Billings, MT to learn mortgage origination through hands-on training and mentorship. The role supports real estate lending, sales development, and customer service while preparing for independent loan production.

As a trainee, you will gain knowledge of FHA/VA/conventional programs, regulatory compliance, and relationship management, with potential progression to base+commission compensation after the training

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years of customer service, banking, retail sales, financial services, or residential lending experience required.
• Previous experience in lending, banking, real estate, or loan processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with the mortgage application process and gather required documentation.
• Set up and maintain loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.
• Conduct preliminary borrower interviews and assist with customer pre-qualification activities.
• Support Mortgage Loan Officers and management in preparing loan applications for underwriting review.
• Monitor loan pipelines and communicate status updates to borrowers, processors, and referral partners.
• Coordinate with processors, underwriters, closing agents, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely loan closings.
• Review loan documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with automated underwriting submissions and system updates.
• Prepare loan-related materials, financing scenarios, and customer information packets as approved by Compliance.
• Maintain accurate records and activity tracking within bank systems.
• Analyze loan requests for residential real estate loans.
• Knowledge and ability to originate FHA, VA, and conventional loans.
• Order and review title reports, legal documents, and appraisals.
• Approve loan fund disbursements.
• Demonstrates knowledge on current loan programs and lending regulations.
• Completes all training recommended for position success.
