Job summary

North Wind Group in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a Jr. Biocontainment Safety Engineer to provide engineering support for operation and verification of high-containment laboratories. This entry-level seniority role offers guidance under a senior engineer and focuses on safety compliance with biosafety standards.

Travel 25-50% is required, and the position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. The role emphasizes collaboration with facility engineers, project officers, and design teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Science.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Must be willing and able to learn.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and use sound judgment.
• Must understand design and construction processes.
• Must read and interpret design and construction drawings and specifications.
• Must possess technical and theoretical knowledge of general engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oversight of safety and compliance in lab environments.
• Review designs for laboratory renovations to ensure BMBL/DRM compliance.
• Validate airflow and safety systems in containment facilities.
• Support testing and training for ORF/ORS staff on biocontainment practices.
• Review plans to identify safety issues in biomedical facility construction.
