Job summary

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional for the ASPIRE Autism program at South Elementary School. The role provides instructional support and assists with academic, behavioral, language and physical needs under supervision of a licensed professional.

The position involves working with students across multiple grades, handling IEP goals, data collection, and collaboration with teachers and staff. CPI training is offered by the district.

Qualifications

• ISBE paraprofessional license or short-term approval required.
• Willingness to learn appropriate use of technology.
• Desire to work with students with special needs.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and their records.
• Understand basic elements of an IEP

Responsibilities

• Communicate with teachers, staff, support services and students.
• Collaborate and foster teamwork.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and data recording as needed.
• Support students' social interaction with teacher and peers.
• Assist staff with activities when available.
• Assist/monitor students to and from bus and during recess, lunch, and in hallways as appropriate.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, and use of adaptive equipment as supervised.
• Attend ongoing training and maintain ethical standards.
