Hutch Paving in Warren, MI is seeking an Asphalt Raker to help distribute, level, and finish asphalt behind the paver, ensuring proper depth, grade, and surface quality on outdoor job sites.

Ideal candidates have construction experience, knowledge of hand tools, and a strong work ethic. This full-time role requires teamwork, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous asphalt or construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and hand tools (rakes, lutes, shovels).
• Ability to follow grade stakes and directions from supervisors.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilités

• Rake, shovel, and lute asphalt to maintain proper grade and thickness.
• Work directly behind the paver to correct imperfections and ensure smooth transitions.
• Assist with handwork around edges, structures, curbs, and tight areas.
• Check and maintain proper slope, drainage, and joint alignment.
• Communicate with paver operator, roller operators, and foreman to maintain workflow.
• Remove excess material and fill low spots as needed.
• Perform general labor duties including cleanup, sweeping, and site prep.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
