Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company is seeking an Asphalt Screed (Jack) Operator for our Jacksonville, North Carolina project sites. You will operate the screed/jack on pavers to adjust mat thickness and slope to achieve a proper asphalt finish on roadways and parking areas.

Preferred candidates have paving experience and a willingness to learn multiple tasks while following strict safety rules. NC driver's license is encouraged, and a reliable team player attitude is essential for 12–15 hour workdays.

Qualifications

• Experienced preferred but will train a willing and capable candidate.
• Encouraged to hold a valid NC Driver License.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks of the paving operation.
• Ability to abide by strict safety rules and policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate the jack or screed on paving sites to achieve a finish asphalt mat.
• Perform various paving and grading tasks including screed operations.
• Utilize tools such as shovel, rake, lute, broom as needed.
• May operate a farm-type tractor with power broom attachment.
• Maintain a safe and smooth ride quality of asphalt mat.
