Job summary

The Scruggs Company is seeking an experienced Asphalt Screed Operator to join our Operations team. The successful candidate will monitor the screed’s operation, set the screed on the asphalt paver to specification, and ensure safety and quality throughout each shift.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience operating asphalt screed equipment.
• Ability to climb onto machine and operate controls safely.
• Willingness to work nights and extended shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the operation and function of the screed throughout the work day, maintain awareness of unusual noises or screed operation, and report exceptions to foreman.
• Set and adjust the screed on the asphalt paver at the start of operation to achieve correct depth, grade, and cross-section.
• Operate the screed in a manner that ensures safety of personnel around and on the equipment.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of the screed at day end; keep equipment clean and orderly.
• Follow all safety rules and perform other duties as assigned.
