Job summary

Libs Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced roller operator to safely operate breakdown and finish rollers, compact asphalt surfaces, and ensure a high-quality mat on paving sites.

You will perform daily maintenance, follow safety procedures, coordinate with supervisors, assist with setup and cleanup, and support team members as needed to complete projects efficiently.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and CDL is a plus.
• Valid DOT Medical Card.
• Drug test and COATS card required.
• Dependable with good attendance.
• Construction industry experience preferred.
• Able to regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to withstand various climate conditions.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Clean MVR.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates various sizes of rollers to compact subgrade and sub-base asphalt surfaces appropriately and safely.
• Performs daily maintenance and safety checks of roller.
• Performs daily maintenance of fluids and water systems.
• Safely operates roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.
• Determines the speed and direction of the roller, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures.
• Operates the breakdown roller to achieve proper compaction.
• Operates the finish roller in successive overlapping passes to apply the final finish and remove imperfections.
• Assists with tamping and wacker when necessary if roller is not accessible to certain areas.
• Ensures the job site is clean and free of excess material.
• Assist in setting up and taking down signs when necessary.
• Communicate with Paving Supervisor and Job Superintendent regarding any flaws in material or finished mat.
• Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as needed, assisting team members with shovel, lute, rake.
• Effectively communicates with team members.
• Take necessary precautions to ensure job is being done in the safest manner possible.
• Monitors quality of jobs to ensure all aspects of the job are being done properly and efficiently.
• Follows all direction from Libs Paving Management team, Foreman, and Superintendents.
• Completes daily job tracking efficiently, completely, and timely as required using Pave Day.
• Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving.
• When driving company vehicles, follows proper daily checklist and inspection procedures while completing pre and post trip inspections.
• Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program.
• Responsible for keeping truck interiors clean of debris while traveling to and from job sites.

Job Summary

Safely and efficiently operates breakdown rollers and finish rollers. Distributes, breaks down, compresses, and gives a finished surface to cooling asphalt to provide superior customer service in the asphalt paving business.

• Operates the finish roller in successive overlapping passes to apply the final finish and remove imperfections with a finish roller.
• Assists with tamping and wacker when necessary if roller is not accessible to certain areas.
• Ensures the job site is clean and free of excess material.

Qualifications, Education And Physical Demands

• Must have a valid driver's license, (CDL Class A or Class B CDL is a plus) and maintain in good standing.
