Job summary

Libs Paving Company, Inc. is seeking a CDL Tanker Driver to safely operate and maintain asphalt tanker trucks and related equipment in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. You will spray asphalt emulsions on prepared surfaces and assist with loading and site duties while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities include daily safety checks, reporting defects, maintaining clean equipment, and adhering to DOT and CDL regulations. Must have valid CDL and tanker endorsement; HazMat preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CDL Class A/B with Tanker endorsement.
• HazMat endorsement preferred, but not mandatory.
• Must pass DOT medical exam and drug test.
• Must have a clean MVR.
• Knowledge of DOT and CDL regulations.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Construction industry experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate tank truck to spray asphalt emulsions on paving surfaces (roads, parking lots, driveways).
• Perform daily safety checks and report defects to maintenance.
• Maintain proper and safe operation of equipment.
• Assist crew with safety and site cleanup as directed by supervision.

Job description

Safely and efficiently operates and maintains asphalt tanker aka Tank Truck and other equipment. Sprays asphalt emulsions on prepared surfaces to prepare for asphalt paving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Before leaving garage ensures truck is in safe operation mode by following proper daily checklist and inspection procedures using the “Vehicle Driver’s Safety Check” form.
• Immediately report any truck defects to Libs Paving Maintenance to ensure defect is corrected, prior to operating vehicle on roadway.
• Understands and executes paving procedures while following instructions to meet standards of the paving project.
• Operates tack truck to haul and transport tack oil. May operate equipment within the job sites to load/off-load materials and equipment.
• Drives and operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on paving surfaces (roads, parking lots, driveways, etc.).
• Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves levers to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid (Tack).
• Regulates burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump. Snap and screw spray bars.
• Turns valve to regulate flow of material and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar.
• Monitors flow gauges, tachometer, and temp gauge to insure uniform distribution.
• Performs daily safety checks of liquid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation.
• Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order.
• Understands and executes different emulsions.
• Take necessary precautions to ensure the job is being done in the safest manner possible. Is mindful of their personal safety as well as safety of team members and customers.
• Follows all driving rules and regulations including but not limited to observing speed limits, construction zones, courteous driving, littering.
• Effectively communicates with crew members with the ability to listen to crew member ideas, suggestions, and concerns.
• Assists jobsite crew with safety and other tasks as directed by Superintendent or Paving Foreman, including, but not limited to, traffic control, paving operations, site clean-up, etc.
• Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program including not talking or texting on cell phone in accordance with Libs Paving Cell Phone Policy and Procedures while driving.
• Responsible for keeping truck interior clean of debris.
• Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.
