Job summary

Walbec Group is seeking an Experienced Asphalt Plant Operator to operate, maintain, and repair equipment at our Ishpeming plant, producing high-quality asphalt mix for paving operations. You will work under the Foreman to ensure safe, efficient performance and learn related construction equipment in a team environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring material flow, loading trucks, replacing wear components, and working in varied weather and confined spaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Ability to work varied hours including nights, early mornings and weekends.
• Capacity to work in dirty and dusty environments and in variable weather.
• Work in confined spaces and at elevations, including heights over 50'.
• Mechanical/fabricating and repair experience preferred.
• Union membership or willingness to join; HR can assist.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work site with shoveling, sweeping, and skid steer operation.
• Monitor equipment for consistent flow and quality asphalt mix.
• Load out trucks for material distribution using computerized operations.
• Operate and replace wear components on plant equipment.
• Work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces as needed.
• Monitor aggregate gradations and moisture to ensure material quality.
• Monitor hot mix test results to ensure compliance with specs.
