Job summary

Yantis Company is seeking an experienced asphalt paving operator in Texas to operate a paver and screed, ensuring asphalt is laid per plan and quality specs. The role involves coordinating with the crew supervisor and possibly performing additional tasks as needed.

Candidate should have 1–2 years of asphalt/road construction experience, be able to work in varied weather, and be willing to overtime. A strong work ethic and teamwork are essential, with a preferred valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
• Be willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary.

• Communications skills: ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and the public in a courteous, professional manner.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt paver and/or screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by crew superintendent.
• Make normal adjustments to obtain proper depth, grade and cross section via screed controls.
• Operate other equipment as needed on the asphalt crew.
• Guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to the machine hopper.
• Control machine movements to spread and level asphalt on subgrade of highways and related surfaces.
• Understand paving prep, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate sizes, job specifications, and compaction.

Job Description

Operate paving machine and/or screed used for applying asphalt to roads, parking lots, airport runways, taxiways, and driveways.

Role And Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt paver and/or screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by crew superintendent to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met. Must also perform additional tasks of other positions as needed and instructed by foreman.
• Screed operation on the asphalt paver involves making normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section of asphalt material via screed controls.
• Ability to operate or initiative to learn to operate other equipment required on an asphalt crew.
• Ability to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper when operating paver.
• Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of machine spreads and levels asphalt on subgrade of highway and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.
• Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including prep work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
