Job summary

The Scruggs Company is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Operator to operate and maintain asphalt paving equipment, ensuring a smooth laydown of asphalt while upholding safety standards. You will work with the paving crew to deliver high-quality results and meet project specifications.

The role requires knowledge of grade specifications, setup and adjustment of equipment, and a focus on precision. Candidates should be prepared for night or extended shifts and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of asphalt paving operations and equipment setup.
• Ability to read and understand grade specifications and adjust equipment accordingly.
• Basic mechanical skills for minor adjustments and troubleshooting.
• One to three years of experience operating paving equipment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain asphalt paving equipment to ensure smooth laydown of asphalt.
• Check fluid levels and monitor gauges; ensure safe operation throughout the day.
• Set up paver and adjust screed according to specifications.
• Align paver to grade and string lines; monitor flow of asphalt.
• Work nights and extended shifts when project schedules require.
• Follow safety rules and maintain clean and orderly equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
