Job summary

State Contracting is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paver Operator to join our road construction crew. You will operate the paver from the top deck console, controlling movement, speed, and material flow to ensure precise asphalt placement.

As a senior equipment operator, you will guide dump trucks, regulate asphalt delivery to the screed, set the paving pace, and coordinate with truck drivers and ground crews to maintain efficient paving operations on active job sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating an asphalt paver and heavy road construction equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of asphalt paving procedures, speed matching techniques, and material flow control.
• Strong spatial awareness and ability to steer heavy machinery with high accuracy.
• Ability to direct truck drivers and collaborate effectively with crew members on active job sites.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and high-temperature environments.
• Valid driver license and reliable transportation to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the asphalt paver in a straight line at a consistent speed to match incoming dump trucks and prevent defects.
• Guide arriving dump trucks into position and use the paver to push trucks forward safely while unloading hot asphalt into the hopper.
• Control hydraulic hopper wings, conveyors, and augers to regulate material flow from the hopper to the screed.
• Serve as the on-site navigator by setting the paving pace and executing the project layout plan.
• Coordinate closely with truck drivers, screed operators, and ground crew members to maintain efficient paving operations.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and safety checks on the paving equipment.
