Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a paver operator to set up and operate asphalt paving equipment on site. You will adjust screed, monitor gauges, and ensure proper flow of asphalt while maintaining safety around the equipment.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, lubrication assistance, and working flexible hours including nights when required. The role emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines and orderly equipment condition.

Perform duties to set the paver up for operation, to maintain a smooth, consistent and correctly aligned lay down of asphalt.

JOB DUTIES

• Check all fluid levels at the beginning of engine startup for the day. Monitor and maintain gauges, fluid levels, operation and function throughout the day during operation.
• Maintain awareness of unusual noises or operations and bring any exceptions to the attention of the foreman.
• The ability to perform light mechanical adjustments and to assist mechanic performing repairs on assigned equipment. Assist with the lubrication and fueling of the paver.
• The ability to set the paver up for operation at the beginning of each operation. Adjust the screed according to the asphalt lay down specification. Place the electric box on the paver and adjust according to operating requirements. Set the paver online and adjust for the grade line. Adjust paver to the string line, if applicable.
• The ability to monitor the flow of asphalt into the paver hooper. Keep travels online. Monitor the paver equipment to ensure proper operation.
• The ability to operate the paver in a manner to assure the safety of personnel around and on the paver. The ability to operate the paver around curbs, structures, tools, and equipment, so as not to cause damage to them.
• Clean the paver at the end of the day.
• The ability to work at nights and work extended shifts when project dictates.
• Follow safety rules and keep equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE

• Some use of reading and writing, adding and subtracting of whole numbers. Following instructions. Use of fixed gauges. Reading instruments and similar devices where interpretation is required.
