Job summary

City of Durham is seeking skilled maintenance staff to maintain and repair city property, vehicles, and roads. You will operate heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, rubber-tire loaders, and rollers, perform routine and preventive maintenance, and assist in training staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four+ years of related maintenance and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Valid NC Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Safely load/unload heavy equipment onto trailers and tow between sites.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and basic repairs.
• Operate Backhoe, Excavator, Rubber Tire Loader and 10-ton roller; drive dump trucks regularly.
• Assist in training staff and act as lead worker when assigned.
• Maintain records such as timesheets and maintenance history reports.
