Job summary

ALS Therapy Development Institute is seeking a Common Laborer to join the paving crew in Texas. You will work with the team to complete asphalt projects, perform prep work, and assist with traffic control and equipment setup.

The role requires basic labor experience, reliability, and a safety-conscious mindset. You may work overtime and weekends, with some travel across Texas, in an outdoor environment weather conditions permitting.

Responsibilities

• General laborer duties with asphalt paving or prep crews.

• Assist in placement, moving and dismantling signs, barricades and traffic devices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Overview

The Common Laborer position is an integral part of the paving crew working with the entire team, foreman, and superintendent to ensure paving jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with physical labor and is able to perform tasks related to asphalt work in numerous settings and environments.

Key Responsibilities

• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.
• Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.
• Equipment cleanup as needed.
• May be called upon to run small power tools.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Entry Level Position
• Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Working Conditions

• Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
• Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Proper PPE is required at all times.
