Job summary

Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is seeking a laborer responsible for the overall quality of the handwork on our jobs. The role requires commitment to the Ajax team effort and to completing work as directed by the foreman.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality and drainage of handwork, matching joints, cutting and preparing butt joints, and helping with prep, paving, compaction and finishing under foreman guidance.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and able to work with subordinates, peers and supervisors.
• Willingness to work days, nights and weekends as required.
• Follow directions from foreman or lead operator and complete assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent quality, texture in handwork.
• Maintain proper drainage of handwork areas.
• Assure all joints are properly matched.
• Cuts, removes and straightedges all butt joints.
• Maintain cut off saw in safe operating condition.
• Assure overall job drainage.
• Assist in handwork, prep work and cleanup as directed by the foreman.
• Keep compaction personnel informed when handwork areas are ready for compaction.
• Performs all functions as directed by foreman or lead operator in conjunction with preparation, layout, cleaning, paving, compaction, and finishing operations.

The laborer is responsible for the overall quality of the “handwork” on our jobs. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by the foreman.

Responsibilities

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Field Environment - Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat
• Ability to workdays, nights and weekends as required.

ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY

• Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized.
• Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
• Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off.
• Performing such other duties as may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands of the position includes: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, twisting, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
