The ideal candidate combines extensive operating experience with strong teaching skills and an understanding of adult learning principles.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Deliver hands‑on instruction using equipment simulators, heavy equipment, and construction support tools.
  • Use Heavy Equipment Simulators to build control familiarity, reinforce safe operating practices, and assess trainee performance before hands‑on equipment operation.
  • Coordinate mobile training trailer scheduling and site setup with operations to bring training to crews at designated locations.
  • Perform pre‑use checks of simulators and training trailer equipment; maintain organized training spaces and report equipment or maintenance needs.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training on basic heavy equipment operations.
  • Assess operator candidates and trainees to identify skill levels, training needs, and appropriate learning support.
  • Observe and evaluate trainee performance during practical sessions; provide clear, constructive feedback and additional coaching as needed.
  • Provide new‑hire training, on‑the‑job training support, and skills development for existing employees.
  • Develop and maintain training schedules in coordination with departments and operations; communicate schedules, reminders, and exceptions to managers.
  • Monitor the use of Hubbard Academy resources and prepare utilization reports.
  • Use active learning, active listening, critical thinking, and adult learning strategies to engage trainees and reinforce learning.
  • Maintain accurate training records, assessment results, and documentation; share information with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Stay current on industry practices and incorporate relevant improvements into training programs.
