Job summary

The Learning Center for the Deaf Inc in Framingham, MA is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support classroom teachers and meet students' instructional and personal needs.

You will prepare instructional materials, supervise students individually or in small groups, assist with feeding and hygiene, and may drive on field trips. The role is non-exempt, hourly, 11-month, with on-site work and benefits including tuition reimbursement and sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Conversational fluency in American Sign Language is required; native or near-native preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an educational team.
• Prior experience working with children is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and visuals for students and instructors.
• Work with individuals or small groups, adapting to students' needs (medical, physical, communicative, instructional, emotional).
• Participate in data collection, documentation, and interpretation of student progress.
• Supervise and instruct students in the absence of the teacher.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene.
