Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Willingness to participate in a paid six-week DeafBlind Intervener Training program.
• Experience with deaf or hard-of-hearing children and visually impaired learners (preferred).
• Ability to support sign and spoken language development for learners with hearing loss.
• Must have 60 college credits/Associate degree or ParaPro score.

Responsibilities

• Support learners who are deafblind using sign language and visual supports.
• Assist classroom teacher in providing instruction and managing student programming.
• Adapt instructional materials to meet learner needs with differentiated instruction.
• Implement data collection and monitoring to track student progress.
• Assist licensed staff with classroom management and behavioral interventions.
• Use proactive behavior management and de-escalation techniques; may use restraints.
• Escort students during arrival/departure and supervise meals and activities.
• Facilitate activities with students under supervision of teachers and related staff.
• Maintain safety of students and environment.
• Collaborate with staff, parents, and community; participate in training as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
