Job summary

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter to assist adult employees with disabilities, enabling communication with deaf and hard of hearing students, staff, and the community. This ADA accommodation-based role will end if the accommodated employee leaves or their needs change.

The position is located at Miles Exploratory Learning Center, Broadway & Highland, with a 0.9375 FTE (7.5 hours daily) and a 9.5 month work calendar.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
• NIC certification preferred (Advanced or Master).
• Certificate of Interpretation or CSC preferred.
• NAD certification levels 3–5 preferred.
• EIPA score minimum 3.5 for interpreting proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist adult employees with disabilities by performing tasks enabling the essential and marginal functions of the job.
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing employees and hearing students, staff, and others through interpreting and transliterating.
