Responsibilities include preparing and delivering instruction, managing classrooms, developing curricula, assessing student performance, and advising on academics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in any subject area with preference in related fields such as American Sign Language, Deaf Studies.
• Two years (4,000 hours) of work experience in American Sign Language.
• At least one of the following within last five years: one year of ASL teaching, or two years of ASL course work at post-secondary level.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
• Manage the classroom/laboratory.
• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
• Collaborate with advisory committee in the program area.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
• Promote the education/training program and participate in recruitment and marketing efforts.
• Support student organizations and activities.
• Develop relationships with business and industry.
• Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
• Maintain certification and stay current in the field.
