Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking qualified part-time faculty to teach American Sign Language courses in person on MATC campuses and other sites. Instructors will develop and deliver engaging ASL content, manage classrooms and equipment, and participate in program evaluation and curricular updates.

The role requires a bachelor's degree or higher, at least two years of ASL work experience, and relevant interpreting certifications or licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in any subject area; preference in related fields such as American Sign Language or Deaf Studies
• Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of work experience in American Sign Language
• At least one of: recent ASL teaching experience or two years of post-secondary ASL course work in the last five years
• EIPA 3.3+ or BEI certification; WisRID with recommendation; DPI Oral/License preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and related teaching activities
• Manage the classroom/laboratory
• Develop curriculum and monitor its effectiveness; assist in program evaluation
• Promote the program and recruit/retain students; engage with advisory committees
