Job summary

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) Continuing Education is seeking an American Sign Language Instructor to deliver non-credit ASL courses across the metro area, including Fremont and Blair. The role offers random teaching opportunities throughout the year, primarily weeknights and weekends, and aims to create engaging, accessible learning experiences while honoring Deaf culture.

Candidates should have native or advanced ASL proficiency, strong classroom management and inclusive teaching

Qualifications

• Fluency or advanced proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Strong knowledge of ASL grammar, vocabulary, conversational conventions, and Deaf culture.
• Previous experience teaching ASL, working with ASL learners, or providing language instruction preferred.
• Experience working with diverse learners and varying levels of language proficiency.
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to create an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Commitment to respecting Deaf culture and the diversity of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
• This position will have random teaching opportunities throughout the year.
• MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area including Fremont and Blair.
• Most classes are held weeknights and weekends.
