Job summary

Metropolitan Community College’s Continuing Education Division seeks an ASL Instructor to provide fun, enriching, and accessible non-credit courses for community members. You will develop and deliver engaging lessons focused on practical communication and Deaf culture.

Classes occur at multiple Metro area locations, including Fremont and Blair, with most sessions held weeknights and weekends. The role offers random teaching opportunities throughout the year and accommodations as needed.

Qualifications

• Fluency or advanced proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Strong knowledge of ASL grammar, vocabulary, conversational conventions, and Deaf culture.
• Experience teaching ASL or language instruction preferred.
• Experience working with diverse learners and varying levels of language proficiency.
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to create an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Commitment to respecting Deaf culture and the diversity of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Responsibilities
