Qualifications

  • MA or BA with college/university ASL teaching experience required.
  • Native or near-native ASL proficiency.
  • Active involvement in Deaf community and professional engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits per academic year in ASL at undergraduate levels.
  • Develop curriculum and teaching materials toward a four-year ASL program.
  • Coordinate curricula and ensure articulation between levels and between UH campuses.
  • Oversee placement exams, course equivalency evaluations, back credits and language waiver petitions.
  • Contribute service at department, college, university, and community levels.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
