Job summary

Beverly School for the Deaf CCCBSD in Beverly, Massachusetts is seeking an ASL Bilingual Specialist to support students’ ASL, literacy, and oracy development, and to engage families in ASL learning and Deaf culture.

The role reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education and requires a Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, proficient ASL and English, and collaboration with early intervention teams, classroom teachers, and speech-language pathologists to support language access and IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and licensure in Deaf Education.
• Proficient ASL skills with SLPI Advanced Plus or higher.
• Knowledge of assessment tools for ASL skills.
• Understanding Deaf/HH culture and education.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation to foster ASL and English language development.
• Lead weekly Parent Infant Program activities and ASL storytime.
• Collaborate with EI team to develop Deaf Mentor program.
• Partner with Outreach and Reading/Literacy to run family ASL classes.
• Support evaluation of ASL skills for school-age transitions.
• Collaborate with teachers/SLP to implement ASL/IEP objectives.
